Alberta police force could cost province hundreds of millions of dollars more: report

Dumping the RCMP for a provincial police force could cost Alberta approximately $200 million more annually than what the provincial and municipal governments currently spend, according to a study released by the provincial government on Friday.

The move would also come with a $366-million price tag at least, for a transition which could take up to six years, the 100-page report by PriceWaterhouseCooper says.
