The Mounties’ union kicked off an Alberta-wide roadshow Thursday that aims to “Keep Alberta RCMP” as the province considers cutting ties with the national police service and creating its own provincial force.
Board members of the National Police Federation, which represents about 20,000 RCMP members across Canada, began the public engagement tour in Sherwood Park, criticizing one of the less popular recommendations to come out of the Fair Deal Panel — creating a provincial police service to replace the RCMP in Alberta.
