NPF Alberta tour: Ditching RCMP leaves many questions unanswered

As Premier Jason Kenney’s United Conservative Party government tries to sway support to switch to a provincial police force, the National Police Federation said is calling for Albertans to support the RCMP.

The cost to switch is estimated at $366-million in a six-year transition and the NPF said it will be hard for a provincial police force to entice RCMP members to switch forces due to a recent pay raise for mounties. Annual costs of operating an Alberta police force would be more than $734-million.
